I'm curious, are we going to be using Reunion farm for every campout from now to eternity? Not that I dislike Reunion, it's like a home away from home for me. But what happened to Page's, and Buddah's farms? Are we not allowed to use them anymore? I'm not complaining, just curious...

A lot of people were really vocal about not wanting to use Page's this year, and the EB has felt that Buddha's farm was too far away, especially for folks on the eastern shore (of whom we have many).

The EB is happy to investigate new campout sites as they are suggested.

thats a shame, Page's is close to me =P. I loved Buddah's place but it was a bit of a hike (almost 4 hours for me) and Id imagine 6+ for the Eastern Shore folks.

Buddha's was fantastic and I'm sad we aren't going there again. I always love going up to that part of MD and will take any excuse I can.

Aside from MaryDel last year, I have never been to a campsite other than Reunion with you all. Frankly, I'm used to it.

If we were to attampt another crossover with Angaron, would we use Buddah's farm? Is there any interest? I know there is from their end...

I also am sad to see Page's farm put on the back burner, as I am one of the numerous people who thought it was great (yes, I know that others disliked it, but I wish a more formal survey had been conducted -- those of us that really enjoy it would have spoken up). I like Reunion -- it's like a home away from home -- but I firmly feel that alternating campsites is the single best way to keep Darkon campouts fresh and accomodate the most people. Yes, Buddah's is far away -- I actually have never been to it partly because of the distance and partly because campouts there often fell in August when Elidor was prepping for Bicolline -- but hey, some people like it and each campsite we use is going to be out of the way for some and convenient for others. Both Page's and Marydel are significantly (read hours) closer than Reunion. And ever notice that when we are at the same site over and over again, the same general campout winds up happening? Let's keep it fresh -- if we incorporated Page's, Buddah's and Marydel once a year and someone didn't like that location, they could skip it.

I think it's because Elidor is to lazy to drive up to Buddah's. They have been spoiled from years of only driving an hour to reach reunion that actually driving about the same distance as those living in central Maryland is too much effort.

It's actually a good site but there are things such as cost issues. Dave treats us well, and we have a consistent place to stay. I think Buddah's site was doomed from the beginning when they made an issue about players under 21 attending. From there, Darkonians were not ready to forgive. However, that being said, Buddah's site is a really great place to hold adventures. Darkon just never really learned how to exploit the advantages of the place. Once again, because they sort of gave a bad first impression.

hey i drive 2.5 hours, get there at about 2pm, then drive 2.5 hours home at around 7pm =P

For the record, I really liked Page's. It's close to my house, and our campsite has a effing CASTLE!

I like Page's too. I know a least one who does not. This person complains that the vegetation is too sparse.

Regardless, I like the site and there are less rocks to deal with.

Marydel will never be used again, drop it. Or bother Inox at an event. I think the attendance at Buddah's farm spoke for itself... There were plenty of people there. Could someone who would be "in the know" email me about a possible crossover with any other groups. Wraith ran in an election on a platform of trying to work with other games, he also said he'd be asking for my help. That never happened. No one seems to be interested in growing Darkon's relationship with other games. It's sad really. We could do all kinds of cool things with other groups. I would be MORE than willing to put in time to make a rule set for such events (like we have done). Like I said, if anyone important cares, email me.

Is Spotsylvania, VA to far to go for a campout? Down near Lake Anna? I may know a few Farm's/Vineyards that would allow Darkon to hold campouts.

Elidor has several members in Spotsylvania/Fredericksburg area -- they'd love it. It would still be a hefty drive for those of us in Bmore, but whatever -- I like variety.

And for the record, Eliphas -- only the old Elidorians who show up for one campout a year live within an hour of Reunion. The rest of us apathetic slackers are in Baltimore or Eastern Shore now, and love the "vegetation" (read one hour drive) of Page's and Marydel.

And I will annoy Inox in person, Thrush -- cause I refuse to accept that Marydel will never be used again. But speaking of the Eastern Shore -- our Elidorian doctor in Denton has found a potential campout spot on Eastern shore with running showers willing to rent to Darkon. We're hoping to have someone check it out soon.
