A shot done entirely with the wrist is not a hit, no.
"When fighting, weapons should be swung with the entire arm to avoid arguments." Personally, I would not take a wrist shot that didn't also involve significant arm movement. All good shots use the wrist, but no good shots use ONLY the wrist. |

I don't know about the "whole arm" but i think you need to at least see some elbow movement in there.

If you can feel the hit solidly, then call it a hit. There's no way you're going to see if the guy or girl was swinging with the wrist every time, and
it opens up avenues of whiny rhino-hiders. If I swing with my wrist (which I do often, behind people's backs) you'll feel it. You see my arm disappear
behind your shield, then you feel your shoulder get hit... Call "wrist," I dare you.

yep that is what is known (or at least i call) a wrap shot. some do them very well (boo), i can do them ok. a good wrap shot is as solid as a full arm swing by
some.

It's important that people understand that swinging entirely with the wrist is not ok.
I've seen people lying on the ground, reaching out at full extension, and using their wrist to flick their sword against someone's leg, calling "WHITEWHITEWHITE!" No, this is not what a hit is supposed to be. You use your wrist with a wrap shot, but you also use your arm. Anyone throwing purely wrist flicks, however, is not throwing valid shots. |

If the weapon hits solid, it was not a wrist flick.

Per Bendore, you can't hit with a wrist flick hard enough for it to count. Exactly as Fingers pointed out, a wrap shot is not done with only the wrist, but
is a full-body throw. The problem is that it looks like it's thrown with just the wrist (like a Bruce Lee 1" punch doesn't seem to have much
power). So it's important to take the hits based on feel, not on sight.
BTW, Inox, I had that happen to me about four months ago by some fresh blood, and I cried because I tried so hard not to laugh at the guy, who was obviously trying. Some people just need a chance to learn the "a hit is a hit" rule, and I think that's where most of these shots classify. Vets, or even non-Squatties, generally know how to throw and count a hit (minus the anvilling discussion in a separate thread, grr).

Ill usually take anyhit, just to avoid any confusion unless i get hit by a flat , the knuckles or my face, ill usually take it, as long as i solidly feel it
not just a tap, like many have said, its just a game, and this game especially, there isnt really a winner and loser, no trophy's, no world series, so just
take the hit, your not going to accomplish anything by being a jerk(but like i said if its a just tap or some other bs i wouldnt take it)

Well, there's a balance there.
On the one hand, you want to take any reasonable hit so as to avoid arguments. However, you don't want to take a garbage hit (the lying on the ground at full extension example, for instance), because then it encourages people to do such things again. Each event, the things we do help to define the culture of the game. We have a responsibility to do those things that are going to keep this game as enjoyable as it was when we found it. |

That was eloquent, Inox. Very presidential.
