Leave bickering about it to other threads started for that express purpose. Thank you very much. Here are some I am picking out SOLELY using google maps looking for parking in proximity to fields/woods, and some I've been to: Savage Park Rockburn Branch Park Patapsco Vally State Park (dunno which part is the best... or if state parks are a no no) Centenial Park (my Co. used this for our crab feast, it is perfect if we can get it, dunno how that works...) Fairland Recreational Park Montpelier Park (has parking for 60ish vehicles, and is right by woods and a big field...) Greenbelt Park (I have fought Dagorhir on the part just below RT 193, with the nice parking loop) It's a start... Or we could find out the EB has already looked into every park between DC and Baltimore and they hate foam fighting... I could be very wrong here. I'd also be willing to donate my time to go check out any of these places with someone if need be... Just gimme a heads up. Rec and Parks, it could open quite a few parks to us. I know most of these parks are alcohol free, but that shouldnt matter for day battles. There is a fee associated with it, and I could find out as my father is president of the Baltimore Metro Horseshoe Club if it is something the club is interested in. It could open up Rocky Point Park (offseason) which has a nice big field and huge amount of parking. It is in the Essex area so it could be a drive for some people. Also there is a large field and huge wooded area (with dirt and gravel roads/trails) that could open up as well. Parking is a little tighter here, with 1 large lot (maybe 60+ cars), some side parking for additional cars, and a small lot across the street for overflow. The site was formerly Back River Elementary School. Another site controlled by Balt Co. is the Dungeons at Fort Howard. We'd have to take a look to see what kinda fields are open for fighting in, but there are a few dungeons we were allowed to use for fighting in BWC and Markland has used it in the past. Double Rock park has huge woods to fight in but I am not sure on parking. Just an option, and wanted to throw it out there. If you notice i tried to limit my suggestions to the Balto./DC 95 corridor... Just a thought as it has come up that at least 2 whole units won't travel from Baltimore to Roundtree because it's not worth the drive for the quality of park... Tryin' to help. DR has more than adequate parking. The front lot is the size of the Redland lot, and then there is some in the back. Be aware that both Inox and I have been looking at day sites and campsites kinda backstage...it's just that nothing has panned out, so there really isn't any point in announcing it. If we can work out some sort of deal with the parks authority, where we pay them in advance, that would be an excellent location. Me and my brothers along with about 30+ other people used to fight there like 10 years ago and the guy we talked to who ran the place was completely cool with foam fighting as long as it wasn't a day the fields were already reserved so if it's still the same guy that could be a plus, granted 30 some people is nothing like what Darkon comes out with.

Posts: 27 (Wed, Feb 11, 2009 7:25 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	i know i would be down with savage mill. i have had larp events there in the past where we used mainly the woods to play, which is uber bad ass! and they have some baseball fields and stuff. plus the parking is decent, i'm not gonna say great but decent. we should definatley check that place out! there is also a park in the glen burnie pasadena area called lake waterfort( i think i spelled it right). it's off of route 2. it has a decent field and some woods to run around in. parking is once again decent depending on if alot of people are there. According to the gentleman to whom I spoke, the AACPRD has 147 various parks which are available to be used for outdoor events with prior notice. Of these, included are Glen Burnie High School Football Field (where Ched Nasad once practiced), 3rd Avenue Park (where Laconia practices) and the Glen Burnie Improvement Association field (next to a huge free parking garage, and with a ton of space). Also,about a 5 minute drive east is a cluster of parks that most people just call adelphi park, tons of park and an area that has field like ground but relatively dense trees in case someone wanted to do a woods battle on a day where one was specifically scheduled, i couldn't see anyone complaining about this area. It's a memorial park with a small mansion in the middle. And this is the URL address to google map.. http://maps.google.com/ma...UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl This is the address to the Montgomery Park NEXT to the park circled in red. Carroll Park is in blue. In the red is possibly a good spot to host the event in the park. In the blue is the small mansion to get a faint idea of how big the area is. In the yellow is actually layered hills. The mansion is on top of a hill, and the hills layer down between 7-9 hills. This is similar to the above pic, but zoomed in a little more. Now, I'm making this a note to everyone so that there is no complaining. Even though the park is near my way, I HAVEN'T BEEN HERE FOR A WHILE! So I can't tell you if any extra trees or bushes were planted around here, but I can definitely say that it's a public park, it's still there, and not alot of people go here USUALLY. The only time there is alot of people here is during events like Baseball games and large company cookouts. Other than that, there you have it. Pockets of Velkyn Velve. Sites we are looking into are throughout the Washington/Baltimore/Northern Virginia Area as well as down to Annapolis and over the Bridge. It's my hope we will have the research completed in a few weeks and by the next EB meeting (We meet monthly) will have a plan to move forward with trying out some new battlefields. How many cars do we need to be able to park for free? How much can the site cost? Where should the site be located? Can the EB prepare an outline like this and fill it in so that the members of Darkon can suggest more helpfully? Off the top of my head, the only criteria that I can think of is that the location must fit 75+ cars, be between PA and Northern VA, cost less than the budget, be in a safe location, and not freak people out when they suddenly round a corner on their jog and see 40 ugly people in plate mail running straight at them. Yeah, that's kinda it. I hesitate to bring hard & fast criteria into the mix (or even guidelines), because I want all ideas on the table. Even something we might not be able to use could make us aware of something that we can use, so at this point, just brainstorm sites and let the EB do the checking and sort it all out.
